Kindergarten Snow Flags!

Last week, We discussed the upcoming season and the chances of snow fall.  We observed different snowflakes, counted the points around them, and noticed that they all had six or eight points.  When asked what else they noticed about snowflakes, the observed how it's the same all the way around & how "each point has the same things!" Katherine added that "they are like synonyms!"

After watching a demonstration on different ways to draw snowflakes using lines and shapes, the students began their own.  They had to draw one large snowflake with six or eight points and several small snowflakes around it to demonstrate emphasis.

Afterwards they painted a long wooden paint mixing stick and I stapled their paper onto it today to make "Snow Flags!" Duncan came up with that name before we even added the sticks. That's how I got the idea!

They proudly held their snow flags high as they walked in a perfect line.
Well it was a perfect line...
