First grade weaving and tapestries

This month, we began observing and discussing a set of tapestries from the renaissance period, known as "The Unicorn Tapestries."  We learned how tapestries were used for various reasons, such as telling a story, documenting an actual event, showing social status, and even warming castle walls.  I passed around various fabric samples and they observed closely to spot an over-under pattern.  We then began a simple weaving activity to get us ready for our more advanced weaving project.
