Kindergarteners and colorful texture spiderwebs

After listening to the story, "The Very Busy Spider," by Eric Carle, the students drew a large spiderweb and used glue bottles to cover the lines of their web in glue.  This took a lot of patience and focusing and they did surprisingly well, not one glue spill!

The following week, they began adding watercolor paint to their spiderwebs.  As they did this, we discussed the meaning of texture and I sprinkled salt on their wet paint.  They felt the difference in textures with the rough salt and the smooth glue.  They also saw what happened to the salt as it dissolved into the paint.

They all did a great job with their paintings and staying in the lines of their webs.
